Caulfield Cup Conquest For Jameka

Jameka clearly stated her claim to be at the head of the market for the upcoming Emirates Melbourne Cup with a very impressive victory in the Caulfield Cup over the weekend in Australia. The former British based Scottish was some 3 lengths behind in the race. A race which has 11 times been won by a horse that’s gone on to take the Melbourne Cup. More clues to the ‘Race that Stops a Nation’ will be provided this weekend at Moonee Valley in the 96th running of the Cox Plate, a race being billed as a showdown between current champion Winx, and current Emirates Melbourne Cup favourite Hartnell.

Delivery of the Caulfield Cup to clients was certainly the feature showpiece of our Saturday activity, however Sunday provided a wealth of top level races to deliver from across the globe, including highly competitive affairs from Singapore, Italy and Japan.

2014 British Champion Flat Trainer, Richard Hannon, took his Irish bred Ventura Storm to Italy for a crack at the Group 1 Premio Jockey Club. A near classic winner in Britain, Ventura Storm was installed as favourite for the race at San Siro Racecourse. The colt duly delivered, but by the finest of margins. He was all out to hold Stefano Botti’s charge Full Drago by a neck, a colt that was recognised for a top victory back in the first HBA International Racing Blog, six weeks ago. Owners Middleham Park Racing are sure to be delighted with Ventura Storm’s high profile overseas victory.

Earlier on the same card, the Group 2 Gran Criterium provided a victory for the travelling Skarino Gold, who made the journey from Germany, along with his German jockey Michael Cadeddu. It was home soil success though in Japan, as Yasuo Tomomichi and Yuichi Fukunaga guided the Japanese filly Vivlos to victory in the Grade 1 Shuka Sho.

This coming weekend, the racing will be delivered live to our clients from South Africa, Italy, Japan, USA and of course Australia, for the prestigious Cox Plate.
