Breeders' cup to be seen live in over 70 countries
Laura Stevens • Nov 02, 2015

LONDON (October 29th, 2015) The 2015 Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be televised live on Eurosport in over 70 countries on their European and Asian networks, and by international broadcasters throughout the Middle East, India and America.

Thoroughbred racing’s end-of-season global showdown, the 2015 Breeders’ Cup will be held at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky on 30th and 31st October. This year’s event will consist of 13 Championship races held over two days, with purses totaling $26 million. Over the years, the Breeders’ Cup has attracted horses from Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Germany, Peru, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela, as well as the United States.

Breeders’ Cup is represented by Henry Birtles Associates (HBA) for its media rights distribution worldwide. “Distributing racing to the largest possible audience requires in-depth knowledge of the sport, expertise in international television distribution, and genuine enthusiasm – this is what we get with HBA,” said Peter Rotondo, Breeders’ Cup Vice President, Media & Entertainment.

For the second year, Breeders’ Cup will be available to a global audience through The International Classic Hour, a special 1 hour live show produced by HBA and Breeders’ Cup specifically to attract mainstream networks.

“HBA has pioneered the one hour show format to open up racing to a wider TV audience and make it more internationally accessible. In partnership with the Breeders’ Cup we will be bringing America’s richest race to television screens across the globe’, said HBA’s Managing Director Henry Birtles. “American Pharoah’s tilt at the ‘Classic’ and his attempt to become the first winner of US racing’s ‘Grand Slam’ adds significant spice to the mix.”
